Thanks so much to everyone who was involved in the 2009 Conway/Perry County Relay for Life. Our financial chair reports that our group has raised $90,359.87, plus she’s still awaiting at least one more check! WOW!!!!

We look forward to working together again for the 2010 Relay.

Fight Like a Girl T-Shirts

The American Cancer Society will be selling Fight Like A Girl shirts this summer. Click HERE to download and print a flyer if you would like to display this information at your work. You can also download and print off an ORDER FORM if you would like to place an order. Selling these shirts it will count toward your local relay.

The shirts are available in brown with pink writing, pink with brown writing, short sleeves, long sleeves as well as hoodies. If you are interested in making a purchase please fill out the attached order form and fax it to Debra Young at 501-941-2297. Be sure to include your team name/Relay name so that credit will go to the proper place.

This year Relay for Life will also recognize Caregivers. The Conway/County Relay will have a pinwheel garden set up to give honor to those who have sacrificed and served to help loved ones who have or have had cancer. A link to the Caregiver form is below. Cajun Jambalaya

Presbyterians to hold dinner of Cajun jambalaya

Cajun jambalaya, with an Arkansas twist, will be the featured cuisine
again this year at First Presbyterian Church’s
Relay for Life fund-raiser dinner scheduled for Friday, April 17.
According to the Rev. Frank LeBlanc, a Louisiana native and pastor of
the church, jambalaya is a rice-based Cajun country dish that can be
made with a variety
of meats and seafood. The church will be serving a classic chicken and
smoked sausage jambalaya with Tyson chicken, Petit Jean sausage and
Riceland rice, all Arkansas products that will enhance the dish with
their native aromas and flavors.

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, La., LeBlanc will be the head chef for
the jambalaya, using his own special recipe. The Cajun jambalaya
dinner will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, in the church’s
fellowship hall at 105 W. Church St. in Morrilton.

Cajun jambalaya, salad, bread, tea or water, and dessert will be
served. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children under 10.
Tickets for eat-in or take-out orders may be purchased at the church
office between 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m. or during business
hours at Bill’s Pharmacy in Morrilton.

Tickets can also be reserved by calling (501) 354-2187 or they can be
purchased at the door the night of the supper.
The dinner is in conjunction with Conway County’s Relay for Life
event, which will be held May 1-2. All proceeds will go to the
American Cancer Society.

Musical Entertainment for Relay Event

Special thanks to our event Entertainment Chair, Ken Eubanks of KVOM, for lining up some great musical talent for the upcoming Conway/Perry County Relay for Life Event.

Jackson Cash, a Johnny Cash tribute artist, Feeding the Flames (classic rock tribute), and Rah hoWard, “The Leader of the Southern Hip Hop Soul Movement,” will all provide entertainment at the event.

Our area’s Relay will be held May 1-2 (7 p.m. until 7 a.m.) at Devil Dog Stadium. Please mark your calendars now!

Bean Supper & Auction

A Bean Supper & Auction to benefit Relay for Life will be held at the Downtown Church of Christ Family Life Center on Saturday, March 21. Serving will be from 5-7 p.m. Menu items include Beans, Cornbread, Fried potatoes, Slaw, Dessert & a drink (tea, coffee, water or lemonade). Cost is $7 per person and will be collected at the door. There will be a live quilt auction at 6 p.m. and a silent auction with a variety of items. Gabrielle Pruitt will provide entertainment.
